Turkish wrestler Hafize Şahin in women’s 63 kg claimed a quota place for Rio 2016 Olympic Games on the second day (23 April) of the First World Olympic Games Qualifier held in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.
Hafize Şahin defeated Polish Monika Ewa Michalik 4-5 by fall in the qualification match, Swedish Henna Katarina Johansson 9-0 in the quarterfinals, Colombian Leidy Marcela Izquierdo Mendez 4-0 in the semi-finals. Hafize won the gold medal after her Hungarian opponent Marianna Sastin couldn’t show up because of her injury.
Other Turkish wrestler Evin Demirhan in women’s 48 kg was disqualified after losing 8-3 to Mongolian Namuuntsetseg Tsogt-Ochir in the qualification round.
Taha Akgül in men’s freestyle 125 kg, Selim Yaşar in men’s freestyle 86 kg, İbrahim Bölükbaşı in men’s freestyle 97 kg, Elif Jale Yeşilırmak in women’s freestyle 58 kg, Buse Tosun in women’s freestyle 69 kg, Yasemin Adar in women’s 75 kg and Rıza Kayaalp in men’s Greco-Roman 130 kg had already qualified for Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
