Mete Gazoz in recurve men’s and Yasemin Ecem Anagöz in recurve women’s claimed their spots for Rio 2016 Olympic Games by winning gold medals at the Rio 2016 Continental Qualifying Tournament held between 26-27 May in Nottingham, Great Britain.
Yasemin Ecem Anagöz who passed bye in the first round, defeated Estonian Reena Parnat 6-0 in the second round, Denmark’s Anne Marie Laursen 7-1 in the third round, Swedish Christine Bjerendal 6-2 in the quarterfinals, Azerbaijani Olga Senyuk 6-0 in the semi-finals and Slovak Alexandra Longova 6-5 in the final to earn the ticket for Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Mete Gazoz, who passed the first two rounds bye, defeated Estonian Martin Rist 6-0 in the third round, British Larry Godfrey 6-5 in the fourth round, Slovenian Gasper Strajhar 6-2 in the quarterfinals, British Patrick Huston 6-2 in the semi-finals and Finnish Samuli Piipu 6-5 in the final to claim a spot for Rio 2016.
