Turkish athletes won a silver and a bronze medal on the second day of the European Athletics Championships held in Amsterdam, capital of Nederland.
Emel Dereli won a bronze medal with her 18.22 throw in women’s shotput finals and Jak Ali Harvey won the silver medal with clocking 10.07 in men’s 100 m finals. Ramil Guliyev, the other Turkish athlete in the finals placed 6th with 10.23. Emre Zafer Barnes in men’s 100 m semi-finals placed 4th with 10.31 and did not qualify for the finals.
Yasmani Copello Escobar in men’s 400 m hurdles, earned a place in the finals with his 48.42 time, setting the new Turkish record.
Yavuz Can in men’s 400 m semi-final placed 5th in the group and 7th in general ranking with his 45.51 time and was eliminated despite setting the new Turkish record.
Levent Ateş in men’s 1500 m qualifying rounds, placed 8th in his group and 21st in general ranking with 3:43.25 and got eliminated.
Şeref Osmanoğlu in men’s triple jump, qualified to the finals with his 16.81 jump and Aşkın Karaca placed 21st and eliminated with 16.19.
Eda Tuğsuz in women’s javelin throw qualified to the finals with her 58.13 throw, placing 12th.
Ercüment Olgundeniz in men’s discus throw, failed at all his three attempts and was eliminated.
Levent Ateş couldn’t qualify for the finals clocking 3:43.25 in men’s 1500 m qualifying rounds.
