Team Türkiye will represent our country with 193 athletes participating in 20 sports at the 3rd European Games to be held in Kraków city and Malopolska regions of Poland between 21 June and 2 July 2023.
With just a few days remaining until the Kraków-Malopolska 2023 European Games, the final roster of Team Türkiye has been announced. Our squad consists of 103 female and 90 male athletes who will compete in shooting, athletics, badminton, cycling, boxing, fencing, judo, canoeing, karate, ski jumping, kickboxing, table tennis, modern pentathlon, muaythai, archery, rugby sevens, artistic swimming, taekwondo, and triathlon, all proudly wearing the national jersey.
The Kraków-Malopolska 2023 European Games not only stand as the largest multi-sport event in the continent but also hold significant importance in relation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games quotas.
Within the scope of the Games program, competitions that will affect the quota process of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in 18 disciplines and European Championships in 12 sports will be held.
During the Games, a total of 18 disciplines will directly impact the quota process for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, while 12 sports will hold European Championships. Turkish athletes will strive to secure direct quotas in shooting, boxing, canoeing, table tennis, modern pentathlon, archery, rugby sevens, and artistic swimming. Moreover, badminton, cycling (BMX and mountain), team fencing, judo, taekwondo, and triathlon will provide Paris 2024 quota points.
Additionally, the competitions in artistic swimming, athletics team competititons, badminton, canoeing, cycling (BMX and mountain), diving (aquatics), mixed team judo, and modern pentathlon will also be recognized as European Championships.
Kraków and Malopolska 2023 European Games
European Olympic Committees (EOC) Board Member and Vice President of the Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC), Hasan Arat chairs the Coordination Commission of the Games which will encompass 26 sports and 29 disciplines. Athletes from 48 European countries, totaling approximately 7,300 participants, will partake in 253 medal competitions.
Furthermore, the Games competition program will include eight additional sports: karate, kickboxing, muaythai, padel, beach handball, beach football, teqball, and ski jumping.
The Henryk Municipal Stadium will host the Games' Opening Ceremony on June 21 and Closing Ceremony on July 2.
Team Türkiye at the European Games
In the 2nd European Games held in Minsk, Belarus, from June 21 to 30, 2019, Türkiye achieved 14th place with a total of 15 medals, 24th place with 2 gold medals. Likewise, at the 1st European Games held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from June 12 to 28, 2015, Turkiye secured the 11th spot with 29 total medals, and 14the place with 6 golds.
