Turkish Kayra Sayit became the champion in women’s +78kg of the Judo Grand Prix in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia.
Kayra defeated Georgian Elena Kebadze, Dutch Tessie Savelkouls, French Emilie Andeol and Ukranian Svitlana Iaromka to qualify for the finals at Tbilisi Grand Prix where 163 women and 230 men, a total of 393 athletes from 67 countries. Kayra Sayit won the gold medal as her Brazilian rival Maria Suelen Altheman got injured and was not able to show up in the final match.
Another Turkish judoka Sinan Sandal has won the bronze medal in men’s 66kg at the Tbilisi Grand Prix.
With one gold and one bronze medal, Turkey finished Tbilisi Grand Prix in the 7th place.
