At the European Taekwondo Championship held in Manchester, England, Turkey’s taekwondo athletes secured 11 medals of which five were gold, two were silver and four were bronze. This resulted in Turkey being crowned as European Champions in the general classification as a team.
Turkey’s Merve Dinçel in women's 49kg, Zeliha Ağrıs in women’s 53kg, Hatice Kübra İlgün in women’s 57kg, Hakan Reçber in men's 63kg, and Emre Kutalmış Ateşli in men’s +87kg all won gold medals.
Emine Gogebakan in women's 46kg and Görkem Polat in men's 54kg, finished the championship as the second in Europe with a silver medal.
Nafia Kuş in women's +73kg, Deniz Dağdelen in men's 54kg, Muhammed Emin Yıldız in men’s 74kg and Enbiya Taha Biçer in men’s 87kg completed the competition in third place to bag bronze medals.
