Turkey to send 34 of its best young athletes to 2019 Winter EYOF

Turkey will send 34 of its brightest young athletes to compete at the Sarejevo and East Sarejevo 2019 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) taking place in Bosnia-Herzegovina from 9-16 February.

The Turkish team will be made up of 17 girls and 17 boys who will compete in seven different sports including: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, short track speed skating.

Turkey’s young athletes will take part in the largest sport festival for athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. In total more than 1,500 athletes from 48 countries will take part in the event.

The EYOF is a biennial sporting event which has a summer and winter edition. The European Olympic Committees is the rights holder of the event which first began in 1991 in Brussels.

The last winter EYOF was held in the Turkish city of Erzurum in 2017. Turkey sent 69 athletes to the competition collecting two silver medals and one bronze medal.
The next summer edition of the EYOF will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 20-28 July 2019.

    The event has been commemorated through the Olympic Day activities organized by all the Olympic Committees in the world since 1987.


  • Fair Play

    Fair Play Awards are presented every year by the National Olympic Committee of Turkey at a ceremony held at Olimpiyatevi during the month of May.
