Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC) Vice-President Hasan Arat was appointed as one of three new independent members to the World Athletics Executive Board.
Arat’s appointment was made during the 220th World Athletics Council Meeting in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Saturday 23 November.
The TOC’s Vice-President is also an Executive Committee member of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and chairs the EOC's Coordination Commission for the 2023 European Games in Kraków, Poland.
Arat is also a member of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Marketing Commission.
Arat was joined by Canada's Abby Hoffman and the United States' Sunil Sabharwal Executive Board as the three newly appointed independent members of the World Athletics Executive Board.
In his new role, Arat will join a nine-member Executive Board whose role is govern World Athletics’ business. Responsibilities of the Executive Board include decisions related World Athletics’ annual plan and budget, risks and compliance, and organisational policies, procedures and systems.
