On Wednesday 28 July Judoka Mihael Zgank placed fifth in -90 kg judo whilst Alican Kaynar continued to lead the Finn Class in sailing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In artistic gymnastics, Adem Asil and Ahmet Önder competed in the men's individual all-around final. Adem Asil ranked 15th with 13,166 points in pommel horse, 13,700 in the hoop, 15,133 on the vault, 12,600 in parallel bar, 13,600 in pull-up bar and 14,300 on the floor, with a total of 82,499 points, while Ahmet Önder scored 12,900 in the pommel horse, 13,866 in the rings and 14,333 on the vault. He did not compete in the parallel bar, floor and pull-ups in order not to take any risks.
In badminton, Neslihan Yiğit lost 0-2 to her Chinese opponent in her last match in the group and was eliminated.
In boxing, Bayram Malkan defeated Ghanaian Samed Shakul in his 81kg debut match and will face Azerbaijan’s Loren Berto Alfonso Dominguez in the quarter-finals to be held on 30 July.
In judo, Mihael Zgank -90kg defeated Cuba’s Ivan Felipe Silva in his first match, USA's Colton Brown in his second match, Netherland’s Noël van 't End in the quarter-finals and but was eliminated in the semi-finals on golden score by Germany’s Eduard Trippel. Losing to Özbek Davlat Bobonov in the bronze medal match, our athlete finished the Games in fifth place.
Today, Alican Kaynar completed the sailing races on the second day, Deniz Çınar, Ateş Çınar, Beste Kaynakçı and Ocean Arıkan on the first day, and Dilara Uralp and Onur Cavit Biriz on the third day. In the Finn class, Alican Kaynar completed the third race in 6th place and the fourth race in 13th place, maintaining his place in first place with 8 net points. In the 470 Men's Class, the Deniz Çınar and Ateş Çınar duo finished their first race in 11th place and their second race in 14th place, finishing in 13th place overall. In the 470 Women's Class, Beste Kaynakçı and Ocean Arıkan completed the first race in 20th place and the second race in 19th place finishing 20th in the overall ranking. In the RS:X Women's Class, Dilara Uralp completed her seventh race in 22nd place, her eighth race in 24th place and her ninth race in 21st place, placing 23rd with 175 net points.
Defne Taçyıldız in swimming came 14th in the 200m butterfly semi-final race with a time of 2:11.27 and did not qualify for the final. While Berke Saka could not reach the semi-finals with a time of 1:58.66 in the 200m backstroke. Our 4x200m freestyle women's relay team was eliminated with a time of 8:10.96 in the heats.
