The second edition of the European Games is in full swing in Minsk and Team Turkey have excelled in sport so far.
Turkish athletes have already taken home three medals since the Minsk 2019 Games opened on the 21 June 2019.
Team Turkey’s medals include one gold in judoka and two bronze in athletics and archery.
Archer Mete Gazoz carried the Turkish flag at the Dinamo Stadium during Minsk 2019 European Games opening ceremony and made it through the archery ranking round on day one of the competition.
Team Turkey’s first medal came on day three of competition, when archery compound mixed team Yesim Bostan and Evren Cagiran defeated Croatia 153-152 in the 3rd place match, taking bronze.
Later on, during day three, Jak Ali Harvey clocked 10.42 in the 100m track finishing third, claiming Turkey’s second bronze medal of the day and at the Games!
On day four, Mikail Ozerler made it to day five’s final of the men’s 90kg judoka after beating his Russian opponent!
On day five of the competition, Ozerler was crowned the European Games Champion after defeating his Israeli opponent again, claiming Team turkeys first gold at Minsk 2019.
On day six, we will see Turkish athletes compete in archery, athletics, badminton, canoe, cycling, gymnastics, judoka, shooting, table tennis, and wrestling. Good luck to all our athletes!
