Samsun Grand Prix, one of the legs of IJF (International Judo Federation) World Judo Tour and offering points for Rio Olympic Games will take place in Samsun’s Tekkeköy Yaşar Doğu Sports Hall on 1-3 April.
Turkey will participate with 25 men and 28 women judoka in the tournament that is going to be attended by 454 elite athletes from 72 countries. Judo Olympic Team of Turkey consisting of 5 women and 7 men will fight to gain advantage for the Olympic ranking.
The draws and the press conference of Samsun Grand Prix was held in Anemon Hotel today (31 March), attended by Samsun Provincial Director of Youth Services and Sports Güven Özyurt, the president of Turkish Judo Federation (TJF) Fatih Uysal and IJF Sports Director Daniel Lascau. TJF President Uysal made the opening speech, “We host the Judo Grand Prix in Samsun for the fourth time now and we are very happy about it. This Grand Prix isat the top level and high quality. This tournament is also very important for Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The points and medals that our judokas will earn here will contribute to their Olympic ranking. We hope our athletes and coaches will use this chance efficiently. I wish the very best of luck to all judokas, coaches and referees.”
