Day Four in Tokyo 2020 Remained

Neslihan Yiğit in badminton, Busenaz Sürmeneli in boxing and Yasemin Ecem Anagöz in archery all defeated their rivals on day four of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition, Alican Kaynar took first place in Finn Class sailing and in swimming, Defne Taçyıldız reached the semi-finals in 200m butterfly.

In badminton, Neslihan Yiğit defeated her opponent Doha Hany 2-0 (21-5, 21-5) in her first match in her group. Our athlete will face Chinese Yu Fei Chen in his second match tomorrow.

In boxing, Busenaz Sürmeneli defeated Poland’s Karolina Koszewska 5-0 in the first round of the women's -69kg and advanced to the quarter-finals.

In weightlifting, Nuray Levent finished 9th in women's 64 kg by lifting 100 kg in snatch, 120 kg in clean and jerk and 220 kg in total.

In judo, Vedat Albayrak -81kg lost to Japan’s Takanori Nagase in the first round and was eliminated.

In archery, Yasemin Ecem Anagöz defeated Canada’s Stephanie Barrett and China’s Xiaolei Yang 6-2 in the women's first and second rounds to reach the 1/8 round.

In Taekwondo, Nafia Kuş was eliminated in the women's +67 kg first round match, losing to Katherine Rodriguez Peguero of the Dominican Republic after a golden kick.

In volleyball, our national team faced Italy in its second group match and was defeated 3-1 with sets of 22-25, 25-23, 20-25 and 15-25.

Competing in the men's Finn Class sailing, Alican Kaynar finished first in both races with a time of 49:18 in his first race and 49:33 in his second race, reaching first place in the general classification. In the women's laser radial class, Ecem Güzel ranked 28th in her fifth race, 30th in her sixth race, and 19th among 44 athletes at the end of six races.

In swimming, Defne Taçyıldız placed 4th in the women's 200m butterfly qualifying series with a time of 2:10.00 and advanced to the semi-finals that will be held tomorrow. Yiğit Aslan placed 24th in the men's 800m freestyle trials with a time of 7:56.18, while Berkay Ömer Öğretir placed 22nd in the men's 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:10.73.
