The International Fair Play Council (CIFP) has awarded Turkish wrestler Yasemin Adar with a Special World Fair Play Diploma for the sportsmanship she displayed during the 2018 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary from 20-28 October.
During the women’s 76kg semi-final match, Yasemin Adar’s opponent, Hungary’s Zsanett Nemeth, suffered a knee during the bout but wanted to continue competing despite her pain.
In reaction, Yasemin Adar decided against making any moves which might inflict pain on Nemeth’s injured knee, with Adar running the risk of losing the match.
“Due to her fair play in the match, Yasemin Adar was awarded this diploma and Turkey should be proud of her” said CIFP President Dr. Jeno Kamuti.
United World Wrestling Bureau Member and Representative of the Turkish Wrestling Federation, Rodica Maria Yaksi received the Diploma from CIFP President Kamuti on behalf of Yasemin Adar.
