Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül won gold and Selim Yaşar won silver medal in men’s freestyle wrestling on the 15th day of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül in men’s freestyle 125 kg, defeated Mongolian Chuluunbat Jargalsaikhan 4-0 (technical points: 10-0) in 1/8 finals, Ibrahim Saidau from Belarus 4-0 (technical points: 11-0) in the quarterfinals, Armenian Levan Berianidze 3-1 (technical points: 8-1) in the semi-finals and Iranian Komeil Nemat Ghasemi 3-1 (technical points: 3-1) in the gold medal match to become the champion and won the gold medal.
Other Turkish wrestler Selim Yaşar in men’s freestyle 86 kg, defeated Jaime Espinal from Puerto Rico 3-1 (technical points 5-2) in 1/8 finals, Cuban Reineris Salas Perez 3-1 (technical points: 5-2) in the quarterfinals, American J'den Michael Tbory Cox 3-1 (technical points:2-1) in the semi-final but lost to Russian Abdulrashid Sadulaev 3-0 (technical points: 5-0) in the gold medal match to become the second and won the silver medal.
