LONDON 2012
The National Olympic Committee of Turkey has managed to obtain financial support (scholarship) for 17 national athletes who have the possibility to participate in 2012 London Olympic Games from the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity program.
After NOCT’s application, IOC announced that 17 Turkish athletes would receive 500.-USD per month as a financial support for their preparations. These athletes are as follows:
Fatih Avan, Binnaz Uslu, Almitu Bekele Degfa (Athletics), Rıza Kayaalp, Selçuk Çebi (Wrestling), Şaziye Okur, Erol Bilgin (Weightlifting), Servet Tazegül, Nur Tatar (Taekwondo) Selçuk Eker, Furkan Ulaş Memiş (Boxing), Gülşah Kocatürk (Judo), Begünhan Elif Ünsal (Archery), Deniz Çınar (Sailing), Yusuf Dikeç (Shooting), Ömer Aslanoğlu (Swimming), Recep Ünalan (Cycling)
The scholarship will be revised and renewed every four months after a technical development report submitted by The National Olympic Committee of Turkey to the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity Program. In case the athlete fails to receive the right to participate in the games, gets injured, receives penalty for doping, behaves unethically or his/her performance level decreases at an unusual pace, the scholarship will be cut off.
