International Judo Federation and Turkish Judo Federation run seminar for 68 judo coaches with support from Olympic Solidarity
The Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC), International Judo Federation (IJF) and Turkish Judo Federation have concluded a two week-long seminar for Judo coaches in Turkey designed to further developing the sport in the country.
The Olympic Solidarity supported training course, which ran from 3-16 March in the city of Antalya, saw 68 coaches take part in a wide range of classes and physical activities designed to teach participants new techniques and improve their overall knowledge of the sport.
To help run the seminar, the IJF sent a team of technical experts to Antalya including IJF Academy Director Envic Galea, IJF Sport Director and Academy Officer Florin-Daniel Lascau, Academy Ambassador Rock Gezeker, as well as coaches Tiber Kozcl and Mark Huzing.
In addition, participants also learnt about nutrition, physiology and athlete health issues to ensure they have a well-rounded approach to coaching.
Speaking on the seminar, former Olympian judoka and IJF Sports Director Daniel Lascau said:
“Judo in Turkey has made big strides in recent years, particularly in the area of coaching, and I believe that this momentum will be reflected positively at the Olympic Games.
“I’d Like to thank the Turkish Olympic Committee for their contribution and support in realising this important course.”
