Osman Ayaydin claimed Turkey’s second silver finishing second in the Greco-Roman 92kg gold medal match in what was the highlight of Day 6 at Buenos Aires 2018.
That takes Turkey’s total medal count up to five (one gold, two silver and two bronze)
Swimmer Aleyna Ozkan also made it all the way to the women’s 100m butterfly final but unfortunately missed out on a place in the podium.
In women’s windsurfing, Eda Yavuz made it to the Techno 293+ Final Race but finished in 17th place and could not claim any silverware.
Turkey’s beach handball team defeated Mauritius 2-0 in the Women’s Consolation Round.
They then faced Hong Kong in the placement round and managed to secure a 2-0 victory to finish 9th overall.
In archery, Samet Turak competed in the Men's Recurve Individual Ranking Round whilst Selin Tursatir competed in the Women's Recurve Individual Ranking Round but neither athletes progress to next phase.
Modern pentathlete Dora Nusretoğlu placed 6th in the fencing competition and will compete in swimming and laser run competitions this Sunday.
In track and field, Evin Demir finished 5th in the Women's 5000m Race Walk Stage 1 with a time of 23:25.54 (a personal best) and will compete in Stage 2.
Berfin Turbariser competed in the Women's 2000m Steeplechase Stage 1 but finished 15th and could not make it to Stage 2.
In the Men's 1500m Stage 1 Heat 2, Tarik Demir finished 13th and was eliminated from Buenos Aires 2018.
On day seven, we will see Turkish athletes competing in wrestling, modern pentathlon, track and field and weightlifting.
