The Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC), International Canoeing Federation (ICF) and Turkish Canoeing Federation (TCF) held a seminar for canoeing coaches in the City of Antalya, Turkey.
The “technical course for coaches/canoeing”, which was support by the Olympic Solidarity fund, took place from 16-18 November.
The seminar was led by professional canoeing coach Adnan Aliev, who trained participants on how to best prepare for the World Championships and Olympic Games. The seminar also focused on other key areas in canoeing such as strength, speed, basic techniques, planning, development and macro plans for canoeing clubs, amongst others.
Speaking on the programme’s benefits and its importance for the growth of Turkish canoeing Adnan Aliev said:
“We shared some theoretical and practical knowledge about canoeing with the seminar participants. Despite being such a new sport in Turkey, we believe these seminars will help to accelerate development of the sport may gain acceleration and spread throughout the whole country.
“I would like to thank Olympic Solidarity, TOC, ICF and TCF for their contributions to the sport by hosting this seminar.”
During the second part of the seminar, Turkish coach Lütfi Tolga Çelik also spoke about the leadership roles of canoeing athletes and coaches, whilst Emine Deniz Özdemir, who advises Olympic teams on nutrition, presented on her area expertise.
The TOC provided financial support for organisation of the seminar.
